take the road less traveled

they were giving away free organic gluten and dairy free fortune cookie samples at the market yesterday and i am a girl that does not walk away from a cookie sample, regardless of how healthy and insipid it sounds.  predictably, it was rubbery and tasteless, but the little piece of paper inside was worth every bland bite, stating that 'a distant journey is in your near future'. 
so while i take a minute to pack a bag or two, let me share with you this great timely article written by paul theroux for the new york times travel section last weekend.  its about the importance of traveling far and wide, into hot zones and out of comfort zones, to the places that scare, challenge and ultimately teach us the most about ourselves.
