señor santoalalla

this mornings playlist contains a song i can listen to, on repeat, over and over and over again. i actually have many times, listened to it as the background to my day, itunes on repeat.  it is, i think,  one of the most beautifully haunting pieces of music, available here in the states on the soundtrack to one of the most beautiful movies of the past decade.

gustavo santaolalla is an argentinian musician and film composer. he won the oscar for best original score for brokeback mountain and babel and it is on this latter movie's soundtrack that you will find his amazingly moving piece titled 'deportation/ iguazu'.
this song is one of maybe a dozen songs that make up the soundtrack of my life (so far) - somewhere towards the end credits i think.  click on the above link or download the song on itunes - and hear for yourself, your itunes on repeat.
